Happy Monday!
As promised, I will be updating this blog each week to give you a heads up on what is going on in our classroom.
Spelling lists have been stapled into your child's planner for the week. Please encourage your student to practice their words a little bit each night. There are different ways to practice like writing them with sidewalk chalk outside (perfect weather for it this week), create a word puzzle online at www.puzzlemaker.com if you have internet access, write a short story that contains the spelling words or any other way you can think of! Students have been using SpellingCity in class and it can also be accessed on a computer or smart phone outside of school.
We have also kicked off our first science unit, States of Matter and cannot wait to get to our hands on experiments. Be on the lookout for a donations slip coming home real soon. We are in the market for household "junk" like cardboard boxes, bubble wrap, tin foil etc.
I have created a sign up for November conferences on Sign Up Genius. Some parents were able to sign up the night of Back to School night but, some may have missed that. It was a little tricky to use so, if you could kindly check to see if your time slot has been reserved, it would be greatly appreciated. My apologies if your slot did not somehow save. If you have not signed up via Sign Up Genius, please take a moment to do so.
